Meet the Team
Sarah has many years’ experience of business environments and understands the challenges of being a mum and juggling work. Sarah has been working hands on with the children since opening and is now a Level 3 Early Years Educator, she is an experienced Safeguarding lead, and although mainly office based running the business these days, still enjoys plenty of time with the children. Learning and developing skills are paramount to the nursery as a whole, Sarah believes that we should never stand still and always strive to improve and develop not only the business but as practitioners in our field.
Sarah has a business & finance qualification and spent 12 years working for a large Shropshire business, where she gained a range of experience from Customer Service, IT, Sales & Marketing, Recruitment and mentoring teams. Sarah has lived in Shropshire since her early teens and is married with a daughter.
Heidi – Manager, Curriculum Lead & SenCo
Heidi has been working with children since she qualified with her NNEB in 1996. Her two decades in the industry working in a variety of settings including a Montessori nursery means that she has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience. Over the 9 years with Little Pixies, she has completed her SENCO (special educational needs) training and gained a NVQ level 3. She is continuously looking to develop and has therefore attended many other courses from Safeguarding, First Aid, and Behaviour Management. She meets regularly with other professionals attending forums and updates for education, enabling her to keep up to date with ever changing legislation and enhancing good practice within in the team.
Being a mum, herself has given Heidi a real empathy with how it feels to trust someone with your most precious possession.
Alex, Lucy, Laura, Jade
Laura – Fawns Room Leader (12 Weeks - 16 Months)
Laura joined us in 2017. Previously Laura worked at North Shropshire College as a tutor for Childcare and Education and has therefore brought with her a wealth of experience. Laura qualified in 2000 with her Level 3 Childcare and Education and started working as a learning support assistant with children with special needs. Her desire to keep learning saw her complete a teaching degree and she graduated in June 2016. Currently Laura is studying Supporting Families in Education at Glyndwr University.
As a Mum of 3 herself, Laura is totally engaged with how important it is that sensory play is essential in developing and all areas of learning.
Alex – Imps Room Leader (16 Months - 26 Months)
Alex Joined us in 2016. Alex holds her Level 3 Diploma for Children's Care, Learning and Development. Alex has a proven track record of building strong relationships with the children, ensuring their learning is extended as well as developing strong parent partnerships with parents. Alex has completed a course in promoting positive behavior which she uses within her practice here at Little Pixies alongside her team. Alex has a desire to keep up to date with her own CPD training. Alex understands the need to have a nurturing approach within our Imps Room.
Lucy – Sprites Room Leader (26 Months - 36 Months)
Lucy holds her Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education. Lucy has recently also completed a course in Exemplary Practice with Two-Year-Olds. Lucy previously has experience in a leadership role and puts these skills into practice in her daily role, motivating her team and ensuring the day to day running of the busy Two's Room. Her role at little pixies is an exciting one working with our Middle Room, the 2's need the support to express themselves, achieve independence but still feel supported, this is a role that Lucy exceeds at along with her team in the Sprites Room.
Jade – Elves Room Leader & Deputy Manager (Pre-school)
Jade recently joined the team in April 2022. She holds a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. Jade has experience as a Deputy Leader in her previous role where she worked with a team to achieve the best outcome for all children and families. Jade is passionate about outdoor education and is a Level 3 Forest School Leader, she loves spending time with children outside and allowing them to fully embrace the outdoors in all weathers. She has many years of experience in leading a preschool room and supporting children as they prepare for school. Jade holds Level 3 in Supporting children and young people's speech, language and communication needs as well as other training such as safeguarding lead, behaviour and Makaton training. Jade enjoys spending time with the children extending their knowledge and skills through quality play experiences.
