Meet the Team
Sarah – Director & Designated Safeguarding Lead
Sarah has many years’ experience of business environments and understands the challenges of being a mum and juggling work. Sarah has been working hands on with the children since opening and is now a Level 3 Early Years Educator, she is an experienced Safeguarding lead, and although mainly office based running the business these days, still enjoys plenty of time with the children. Learning and developing skills are paramount to the nursery as a whole, Sarah believes that we should never stand still and always strive to improve and develop not only the business but as practitioners in our field.
Sarah has a business & finance qualification and spent 12 years working for a large Shropshire business, where she gained a range of experience from Customer Service, IT, Sales & Marketing, Recruitment and mentoring teams. Sarah has lived in Shropshire since her early teens and is married with a daughter.
Heidi – Manager, Curriculum Lead & SenCo
Heidi has been working with children since she qualified with her NNEB in 1996. Her two decades in the industry working in a variety of settings including a Montessori nursery means that she has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience. Over the 9 years with Little Pixies, she has completed her SENCO (special educational needs) training and gained a NVQ level 3. She is continuously looking to develop and has therefore attended many other courses from Safeguarding, First Aid, and Behaviour Management. She meets regularly with other professionals attending forums and updates for education, enabling her to keep up to date with ever changing legislation and enhancing good practice within in the team.
Being a mum, herself has given Heidi a real empathy with how it feels to trust someone with your most precious possession.
Laura - Senior Room Leader - Imps
Laura R joined us in 2017. Previously Laura worked at North Shropshire College as a tutor for Childcare and Education and has therefore brought with her a wealth of experience. Laura qualified in 2000 with her Level 3 Childcare and Education and started working as a learning support assistant with children with special needs. Her desire to keep learning saw her complete a teaching degree and she graduated in June 2016. Currently Laura is studying Supporting Families in Education at Glyndwr University. At Little Pixies, Laura is responsible for overseeing the Imps room (babies from 3 – 24 months).
As a Mum of 3 herself, Laura is totally engaged with how important it is that sensory play is essential in developing and all areas of learning.
Danni – Room Leader Sprites – 2’s
Danni qualified from Yale College with a bilingual Level 3 Childcare and Education qualification. Danni speaks fluent Welsh and uses this to support children where Welsh is their first language. Danni has experience of baby, toddler and pre-school rooms. When Little Pixies opened Danni started as a Nursery Practitioner and has worked hard to gain new skills and progressed to a room leader. Danni holds a Level 3 – Leadership and Management qualification, and uses the skills learnt here to support and develop her team. She has attended a variety of courses including Makaton, First Aid, EYFS and Development Matters. Her role at Little Pixies is an exciting one, now working as Room Leader in the Sprites room, the 2’s need the support to express themselves, achieve independence but still feel supported, this is a role that Danni exceeds at.
Laura – Room Leader Elves – Pre-school
Laura B and has worked at Little Pixies since October 2017 and is our Elves – Pre-school Room Leader, Laura holds a Level 3 Early Educator. Laura is currently studying to complete a Level 2 Behaviour that challenges in children course and is our named Behaviour person. Laura is very creative and thoroughly enjoys this aspect of child development. Laura has been instrumental in introducing Makaton (using signs and symbols to help people communicate) to the Elves room, assisting practitioners and children – particularly those who find it slightly more difficult, to develop their communication skills in a positive way.
